what are keratin bonds?

Keratin bond extensions are one of the most discreet and customisable hair extension types available.
They attach to your natural hair using small, discreet bonds made out of keratin. Each bond is carefully placed to create a seamless, natural-looking result that moves and blends with your own hair.

At Evoke, bond sizes and placement are customised to suit your natural hair density, desired result and natural growth pattern.

Will they damage my natural hair?

When applied correctly, customised to suit your natural hair and maintained professionally, keratin bond extensions can be worn while prioritising the health of your natural hair.

The key is choosing the right amount of hair, using appropriate bond sizes and placement, and attending regular maintenance appointments every 6–8 weeks. Incorrect application, excessive weight, poor aftercare or delayed removal can contribute to breakage and damage.

at Evoke, every set is carefully customised to your hair, with the goal of achieving a beautiful, seamless result without compromising its integrity. Your natural hair health always comes first.

how long do keratin bonds last?

Keratin bonds can last approximately 4–6 months sometimes longer, depending on your natural hair type, density and how well they are maintained.

While some clients may be able to wear their bonds for longer, 6 months is our recommended maximum timeframe for professional removal to help maintain the health and integrity of your natural hair.

As your natural hair grows, the bonds gradually move further away from the scalp, making correct maintenance and timely removal essential.

Every head of hair is different, which is why we take an individualised approach to ensure your extensions remain beautiful while prioritising the health of your natural hair.

can i still have my hair coloured whilst wearing hair extensions?

Yes! Your natural hair can still be colour-refreshed while wearing your keratin bond extensions.

However, we strongly advise against lightening your extension hair, as this can compromise the integrity, condition and longevity of the hair.

Toners can be a suitable option for refreshing your colour and maintaining your desired tone, provided the formula is appropriate for the extension hair.

do you offer colour services

With over 20 years of experience as a fully qualified hairstylist, colour matching is an important part of my extension service. I carefully select and blend extension shades to complement your existing hair and create a seamless, natural-looking result.

Toners can be offered where needed to refine or refresh your extension colour. However, major colour work, including lightening or changing your overall hair colour, is best left to your regular colourist.

This allows me to focus on what I do best: creating beautifully customised keratin bond extensions with a seamless, considered finish.

do you offer rebonding services

In short no, we prefer to prioritise the health of your natural hair by minimising unnecessary removal and reapplication. Unlike methods that require frequent maintenance, our bond extensions are designed to be worn for 4–6 months, and sometimes longer, depending on your hair growth, bond condition and home care.

We don't routinely remove and rebond extensions every 8–12 weeks, as repeated removal and reapplication can contribute to unnecessary stress on your natural hair. Instead, we focus on longevity, careful maintenance and removing the extensions when appropriate.

Our priority is always to protect your natural hair while maintaining beautiful, long-lasting results.

can i still swim while wearing keratin bonds?

Absolutely! And you won’t have to worry about any hair swimming away either!

Before jumping into salt or chlorinated water, we recommend applying Calleja Pre-Surf Spray  to help protect your extensions and reduce the amount of salt and chlorine your hair absorbs.

Once you’re out of the water, if possible rinse your salty locks thoroughly with fresh water and add post surf balm.

When possible, shampoo twice as usual and follow with conditioner to keep your extensions feeling soft, smooth and hydrated.

will bonds limit how i style my hair?

Not at all! Keratin bond extensions are designed to blend seamlessly with your natural hair, allowing you to enjoy a variety of hairstyles with the right placement and a little extra care.

Can I wear my hair up?

Absolutely. Ponytails, buns, braids and upstyles are all still possible. Bond placement is carefully considered to keep your extensions discreet, even when your hair is worn up. Avoid excessively tight styles that place tension on your roots, and use gentle hair ties to help protect your natural hair.

Can I use hot tools?

Yes! You can continue using your curling wand, straightener and other heat-styling tools. make sure heat is below 150 degrees and avoid direct heat on the keratin bonds, as excessive heat can soften or compromise them.

Can I blow-dry my hair?

Of course. Blow-drying is perfectly fine and an important part of your extension care routine. Ensure your roots and bonds are dried thoroughly after washing, using a suitable heat setting and directing airflow down the hair shaft.

With thoughtful placement and the right aftercare, you can continue styling your hair in ways that feel like you, while enjoying the added length, volume and versatility of your Ritual extensions.
